In a big statement, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday said that the government is planning to construct shopping mall and a hawkers market in Harijan colony once its residents are resettled.

Speaking to the media, Tynsong said that the government is still awaiting complete details from the urban affairs department.

It may be mentioned here that the state government has decided to shift the residents of Harijan Colony to the existing quarters of the Shillong municipal board.

Meanwhile Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday took a jibe at Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president Vincent H Pala for alleging that he suspects a deal over the decision of the government taking over the land at Them Iewmawlong.

Tynsong said that a long time ago, an agreement was signed between the Syiem of Hima Mylliem and the Shillong Municipal Board.

He said that the agreement was initially signed for only a limited plot of land, but the government held a series of meetings with the Syiem of Hima Mylliem and the dorbar of the Hima wherein the former asked the latter to hand over the entire plot of land to the government and ultimately the proposal was accepted.

If that was not all, on the allegations of the MPPC chief Vincent Pala that the process of land acquisition has not been followed, the Deputy Chief Minister in a sarcastic statement said that if Vincent Pala does not understand the issue, he should meet him and Tynsong will explain the matter to him properly.
