Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan who is on a three-day visit to Nagaland attended the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Mon Medical College in the state’s Mon district on Friday. He was accompanied by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

“I’m grateful to @drharshvardhan for personally coming to lay the foundation stone of Medical College Mon. My proud privilege to be a part of the historic day. To provide health care to our people & particularly to the underprivileged & far-flung areas is a long cherished dream,” CM Neiphiu Rio tweeted after the ceremony in Mon.

The Union Minister who arrived in Dimapur yesterday visited the Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR) where he inspected the facilities at the hospital and interacted with the staff there. He also visited an Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre at Naga United village.

Vardhan is also scheduled to make an inspection of the Medical College construction in Kohima today after the foundation stone laying ceremony.
