Vaibhav has been sent to 5 days in police custody
Vaibhav Pandya, the lesser-known stepbrother of cricketers Hardik and Krunal Pandya has been arrested by Mumbai Police today for allegedly cheating the cricketers of around Rs 4.3 crore in business.
In 2021, Hardik, Krunal, and Vaibhav had set up a business. As per the agreement, the two cricketers will share 40 per cent each from profits while Vaibhav will get 20 per cent. However, Vaibhav started an entirely separate entity and transferred money from the firm into it rather than splitting the profits, reported NDTV.
Vaibhav allegedly diverted lakhs from the partnership firm’s account to his own, taking Rs 1 crore. Confronted by the cricketer, he allegedly threatened to tarnish his reputation, reported the Times of India.
A complaint was filed with the Mumbai Police in connection with the matter following which Vaibhav was arrested today. He was produced before a competent authority and was sent for 5 days in police custody, reported India Today.
Vaibhav has been charged with cheating and forgery, reported the Times of India.
