The Asom Gana Parishad cleared its stand over a series of news reports that the party had not taken up the Citizenship Bill issue in the Assam Cabinet meeting held yesterday said that spokesperson of the Assam government Chandramohan Patowary for making comments that has created confusion among the masses over the stand of the party regarding the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

Addressing a press conference, AGP president Atul Bora said that all the three AGP ministers including Keshab Mahanta, Phani Bhushan Choudhury and himself had raised the matter with chief minister sarbananda sonowal during the cabinet meeting held yesterday.

Significantly the AGP president revealed that the party had refrained from divulging any details on the basis of requests made by the chief minister himself. Not only, this the party also reiterated its stand of parting its ways from the BJP led coalition government if the Centre moves ahead with the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
