Just a day ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Assam, two IEDs have been recovered by police in Guwahati on late Wednesday evening that was timed to explode on Thursday.
While one bomb was recovered from Jaswant Road near the Paltan Bazar police station, another bomb was recovered along Mohendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital and Panbazar police station in Panbazar area.
The recovery of the two IEDs in Guwahati comes in the heels of an intense interrogation of an ULFA-Independent cadre who confessed to having planted the two bombs.
The cadre identified as Raktim Gogoi alias Bashob Asom revealed the location of the two bombs after being apprehended by police.
Gogoi is a resident of Mungong Pathar village in Tinsukia district and has been a member of the ULFA-I since last year.
