Guwahati is all set to be the focal point of Indo-Japanese relations next month as it is going to host the annual Modi-Abe summit.
The two-day long summit is expected to take place somewhere around mid December this year.
The state government is currently reportedly mulling to revamp the old DC bungalow on Sukreshwar hill as a place where the two leaders would sit and hold talks. There are also plans of the two Prime Ministers take a river cruise on the Brahmaputra.
Meanwhile, a mock drill is also being conducted in Guwahati by a NSG team from Delhi.
Modi and Abe are expected to cap the summit with a visit to the new peace museum in Manipur’s capital Imphal.
Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale is reportedly scheduled to come to Guwahati and Imphal on November 21 and 22 and take stock of the scenario ahead of the important summit.
Guwahati was chosen as the venue for the summit in view of the Centre’s focus on the Northeast under the Act East Forum launched by India and Japan almost two years ago.
