Eleven new COVID-19 patients were shifted to Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati from Rajkamal Hotel and the potato godown at Fancy Bazaar in the city.
Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma monitored the transit of the patients to the hospital.
On the other hand, four patients were shifted to the MMCH from other parts of the city. All of them were related to another COVID-19 patient Mungu Sahani who was detected with the disease on Monday.
Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that the Mungu Sahani and newly infected COVID-19 patients may contract the virus from the truck drivers transporting potatoes from other parts of the country.
Among the new COVID-19 patients, there is also a barber who used to carry out his works near Rajkamal Hotel defying lockdown rules and regulations. A driver from Santipur area of Guwhati also tested positive.
Taking to Twitter, Sarma said, “We went to Rajkamal Hotel, Aloo Godam in Fancy Bazaar to ensure safe transit of 11 new #COVID19 patients. Four more patients were evacuated from other parts of the city. They have all been brought to MMCH, where they shall undergo treatment and remain in quarantine.”
