Borthakur was found in an intoxicated state and initially refused to comply with instructions from traffic police officers.

An Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer, supposed to maintain law and order and be of help to the people was seen doing just the opposite.

Debasish Borthakur, ACS, currently serving as the Circle Officer of Rangia, Kamrup (Rural) had apparently parked his vehicle in front of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), a busy area, in a manner that obstructed traffic.

As per inputs, Borthakur was found in an intoxicated state and initially refused to comply with instructions from traffic police officers. When approached, he allegedly disregarded their directives and attempted to lecture the officers on protocol. His defiant behaviour prompted the Bhangagarh police to intervene, and he was subsequently detained and brought to the police station.

Despite initial resistance to medical examination, he was later taken for further health checks.

The officer’s actions, including his disregard for public safety and traffic regulations, have sparked public outrage, raising concerns about the conduct of public servants. Many are calling for stricter accountability measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Further updates regarding any disciplinary action against Borthakur are awaited.
