The Assam government on Wednesday announced a fresh set of guidelines for air passengers travelling to the State.
From next week onwards, flight passengers will have to undergo COVID-19 tests at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI Airport) in Guwahati, informed Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma via Twitter.
Earlier, passengers had to go to the Sarusajai Centre for testing, but now the tests will be conducted at the airport itself.
The State government has also withdrawn the mandatory COVID-19 test for people travelling within Assam or between the Northeastern States.
Sharing the development, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “From next week – #COVID19 test for incoming flight passengers will be done in Guwahati Airport itself instead of Xarusajai.”
“Air passengers travelling within Assam and those travelling between North East States will no longer require mandatory #COVID19 testing,” he added.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
