The airport’s runway capacity has increased from 18 to 34 air traffic movements per hour, aided by a parallel taxiway.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the new Integrated Terminal at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati. The modern facility is designed to handle up to 13 million passengers annually, with peak-hour capacity for 4,300 domestic and 200 international travellers.

The terminal’s entrance capacity has been expanded from eight to 14, with 4 new DigiYatra gates have been installed to facilitate faster check-ins. Architecturally, the terminal highlights Assam’s rich cultural heritage, symbolising the state flower, the Foxtail Orchid (Kopou Phool), which represents love, fertility, and celebration.

Enhancing operational efficiency, the airport’s runway capacity has increased from 18 to 34 air traffic movements per hour, aided by a parallel taxiway.

The security check-in area at LGBI Airport has expanded from 300 to 450 square meters, improving security and efficiency with extra screening queues and upgraded furniture. A 140-meter architectural wall has been built, along with the development of 300 square meters of new gardens, enhancing the terminal’s aesthetics and functionality.

The expansion was planned within two months in anticipation of Advantage Assam 2.0, ensuring guests from across the country experience a world-class facility.

Chief Minister Sarma inaugurated the terminal upon his arrival from Delhi, marking a significant milestone in Assam’s aviation infrastructure.
