Government will Reopen Old Murder Cases from Left and Congress Regimes

CM stated that the decision was taken to expose the alleged "killings and terror tactics" employed by opposition parties.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has declared that his government will reopen old cases of killings and political violence that occurred during the previous Left and Congress regimes. Saha, who also holds the home portfolio, made this announcement during a blood donation camp at the BJP Mandal office in Ramnagar, Agartala.
The Chief Minister stated that the decision was taken to expose the alleged “killings and terror tactics” employed by opposition parties, especially the CPI-M-led Left and Congress, during their decades-long rule.
“After consulting legal experts, we will explore reopening old cases of political murders and violence,” Saha said. He further criticized the opposition for trying to undermine his government by raising concerns over the state’s law and order, claiming the people of Tripura know how bad the situation was under previous administrations.
This announcement follows a major protest by the Congress, which last week staged a rally outside the Tripura Police headquarters, accusing the BJP government of failing to control crime, including recent lynching incidents. The CPI-M has also scheduled a statewide rally on October 3, demanding an improvement in law and order.
Chief Minister Saha dismissed these protests, accusing the opposition of fabricating issues to stay politically relevant. “The people of Tripura have lost faith in the Left and Congress,” he said, adding that they are merely trying to deflect attention from their past misdeeds.
