Goods train hits Agartala-Sealdah Kanchanjunga Express in Bengal’s Darjeeling, 4 feared dead, several injured

The accident occurred in Rangapani region when the train was en route to the Sealdah station in Kolkata.
At least four people are feared dead and over 80 injured after a goods train rammed the Agartala-Sealdah Kanchanjunga Express (13174) from behind in West Bengal’s Darjeeling on Monday morning at around 8:30 AM.

Taking to X, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote, “Shocked to learn, just now, about a tragic train accident, in Phansidewa area of Darjeeling district. While details are awaited, Kanchenjunga Express has reportedly been hit by a goods train.”
“DM, SP, doctors, ambulances and disaster teams have been rushed to the site for rescue, recovery, medical assistance. Action on war-footing initiated”, she added.
