In yet another successful operation, the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Thursday foiled an alleged gold smuggling bid at Guwahati railway station.
Acting on a tip-off, around 565 grams of gold was seized from a Rajdhani express.
It is learned that the estimated cost of the gold is around Rs 30 lakh.
One smuggler has been arrested in connection to the seizure, identified as Dharmendra Kumar. He is said to be a resident of Bihar.
As per report, Kumar cleverly wrapped it in carbon paper and stuffed the gold biscuits inside his pants. The plan was to take the gold from Dimapur to Bihar.
On the other hand, Government Railway Police (GRP) also seized a huge amount of cannabis today from Rajdhani Express.
The police searched a Rajdhani express train that was stationed there and seized 93.7 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) based on specific inputs. The plan was to take the gold from Dimapur to Delhi.
The information suggests that the train was heading towards lower Assam before arriving at Guwahati. The seized ganja was brought in five bags that is estimated to cost worth Rs 47 lakhs.

No arrests have been made in connection with the seizure.
Further investigation is underway with regard to the seizure.
