The Gauhati High Court has directed the Assam State Election Commission to hold the panchayat polls by September 15. The Panchayat polls this time will be fought under new rules.

The Gauhati High Court has directed the Assam State Election Commission to hold the panchayat polls by September 15.

The Panchayat polls this time will be fought under new rules. To contest in the polls one needs to have an educational qualification of HSLC pass.

Moreover, a person having more than two children will not be allowed to contest the polls.

Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has said that it is ready to hold the polls.
