Meghalaya Cabinet Minister and UDP leader Paul Lyngdoh has said that the people from the Garo community are politically more mature than the Khasis. Citing the instance of the demand for a Khasi chief minister in the elections held earlier, Lyngdoh said that the Garos put an end to the demand by voting judiciously for the NPP in the Garo Hills region. Lyngdoh added that the Garos did not demand for a chief minister from their community, but rather voted for what was politically right.
