Amid the demand by Garo Hills based pressure groups calling for the ouster of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council CEM Rakesh Sangma, the West Garo Hills district administration today called a meeting of the pressure group leaders and MDCs.

Speaking to Northeast Live Arengh said that the pressure groups were requested to suspend their agitation for some time while a decision is taken on the CEM issue, however, the NGO leaders turned down the request.
The meeting was held at a time when the pressure groups have launched a series of protests to demand the ouster of GHADC CEM Rakesh Sangma accusing him of not following Garo customs.
