Former Prime Minister and veteran Congress leader Manmohan Singh has tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.
Singh has been shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi after testing positive for coronavirus. The former Prime Minister was having fever since Sunday evening.
Earlier yesterday, Manmohan Singh wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the COVID-19 crisis, stressing that ramping up vaccination was the key to battling the pandemic.
In a two-page letter to the prime minister, the veteran Congress leader said one must not look at absolute numbers but the total percentage of the population that has been vaccinated.
Confirming the news via Twitter, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma prayed for the former Prime Minister’s speedy recovery.
“Former PM Dr Manmohan Singh has been diagnosed as #COVID19 positive. I pray for his speedy recovery,” Sarma tweeted.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
