Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ashes were immersed in the Brahmaputra river today.

The ashes of the former PM who passed away on Aug 16 were also immersed in Dibrugarh, Dhubri and Silchar.

The mortal remains of the departed leader was then taken out in a procession before it was immersed in the Brahmaputra River.

The ashes of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee is being immersed in several rivers across the country.

Top BJP leaders are taking part in the ritual that the party has termed as ‘Atal Kalash Yatra’. The Yatra has now made its way into all the north eastern states.

State BJP President Ranjit Das and Minister Pijush Hazarika along with several other leaders visited the BJP office this morning to offer their prayers to the departed soul.

The urn containing the mortal remains of Vajpayee arrived in Assam on Wednesday and a rally with the ashes of late former Prime Minister passed through the city before reaching the BJP headquarters at Hengrabari in Guwahati.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal formally received the urn from Assam BJP president Ranjit Das, who brought it from New Delhi.
