The great statesman that he was, he managed to convince the Nagas that the BJP is as much for them and the whole of north east as the party is for the rest of nation.

Vajpayee acknowledged what he called the ‘unique history’ of the Nagas.

It is in fact that the Nagas are citing today to be given maximum autonomy as they are unique.

Moreover, the eighth northeastern state of Sikkim was included in the Northeast Council during Vajpayee’s tenure.
