Former All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) president Byabang Joram has reportedly been arrested by the Naharlagun police for allegedly stormed into the private residence of Dr Jini, director of Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in the wee hours of Wednesday and attempted physical assault.
As per inputs, Joram drove his car into the private residence of Dr. Jini, forcibly breaking down the iron gate to gain access to the property. Once inside, Byabang attempted to physically assault Dr. Jini, though the exact nature of the altercation remains unclear at this time.
The incident has prompted the Naharlagun Police to register a case, and the accused, Byabang Joram, was promptly arrested later the same day. The police investigation is underway to understand the full scope of the attack and its motive.
On February 6th, the faculty members of THRIMS Hospital organized a peaceful protest to express their concerns about the safety and protection of medical professionals.
The protest was a direct response to the alarming incident, as it highlighted growing fears among doctors and hospital staff regarding their security in the wake of violent attacks.
Sources reveal that the incident was related to an ongoing land dispute involving compensation, which has been a point of contention for the past year.
According to faculty members of THRIMS, Byabang Joram had been provided compensation for the disputed land.
However, Joram expressed dissatisfaction with the amount he received, which is believed to have led to his aggressive actions on the night of the incident.
