Five hardcore cadres of the NSCN (2 NSCN-IM and 3 NSCN-K) have surrendered before the security forces at Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding on Wednesday.

Security forces have managed to bring the 5 NSCN militants to surrender after months of relentless pursuit and concerted efforts.

The cadres surrendered before the joint team of Longding Police and Assam Rifles under the leadership of Longding SP, Vikram Harimohan Meena and Deputy SP Banghang Tangjang.

Of the five surrendered militants, 2 cadres belonged to NSCN-IM — Self-styled Private Wangchen Wangsa (45) and Self-styled Lance Corporal Aaom Wangsu (24), while three are from NSCN-K — Self-styled Private Chapha Panda (30), Jewang Wangsa (47) and Lance Corporal Chaibo Panda (33).

The surrendered cadres were engaged in extortion and collection of taxes. They were all holding influential positions and had been working actively for their respective outfits.
