Five Bru refugees die in Tripura relief camps due to alleged starvation

Five people have died in a Bru relief camp in Tripura allegedly due to starvation.

It may be mentioned that the Bru refugees had been staging an indefinite road blockade demanding the Centre to resume supply of free ration and cash dole which have remained suspended since October 1 to facilitate the Bru repatriation process that began from October 3.

The Mizoram Bru Displaced People’s Forum has alleged that all the five people died of starvation.

In a serious allegation the MBDPF also claimed that the Sub Divisional Magistrate of Kanchanpur did not allow doctors and other officials to visit the relief camps to provide aid to the affected people.
