Cachar SP Numal Mahatta informed that at least 8 fire tenders along with fire brigade and ONGC plunged into action and control the flames.

The students of a computer institute in Silchar’s Shyama Prasad Road had a narrow escape when a massive fire engulfed their institute building on Saturday morning.

The fire reportedly broke out due to an electrical short-circuit on the fourth floor of the Basundhara Apartment, where students were busy attending classes.

The students ran to the roof in search of safety after realizing they had no way out of the building.

Following the incident, locals came forward and helped the students by providing ladders for them to climb down. Unfortunately, a female student fell from the roof and was taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

Cachar SP Numal Mahatta informed that at least 8 fire tenders, along with ONGC fire personnel plunged into action and brought the fire under control.
