Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh said funds have been sanction and the government is trying to release the work order soon.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday met the protesting locals and assured that the Imphal-Andro road would be fixed soon.
The CM said that funds have been allocated and it is now a matter of time that work on the stretch of road would begin.
“Funds have been sanctioned and the government is trying to release the work order soon. Work will begin soon, CM Singh said.
Locals living along the road had launched an indefinite Imphal-Andro road blockade to protest the government’s inaction to build the road. The blockade had entered 4th day today.
The Imphal-Andro road is a key road in Manipur’s Imphal. It connects four constituencies- Thongju, Keirao, Andro and Yaishkul Assembly Constituencies, which means the upkeep of the Imphal-Andro road is the responsibility of all four MLAs. But not one of them seem to care about the condition of the road or their people in these four constituencies.
Interestingly, Thongam Bishwajit, MLA of Thongju is Manipur Minister for Power, Forest,Environment and Climate Change, Agriculture, Science & Technology and Thokchom Satya barta Singh, MLA of Yaishkul is the Speaker of the Manipur Assembly.
Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei is the MLA from Keirao
The condition of the road has been in a deplorable condition for past 3 to 4 years, affecting thousands of people across the four Assembly Constituencies.
The bad condition of the road has caused a lot of inconvenience to the people. Many fatal accidents have taken place and it has become a nightmare to transport sick and old people through the road.
