A fierce gunbattle erupted between militants and security forces in Arunachal pradesh’s Longding district late last night, prompting massive counter-insurgencny operations which are still underway. Inputs suggest that forces came under a sudden attack at Pongchau village as militants resorted to heavy unprovoked firing. It is suspected that a group of 20-30 heavily armed NSCN (K-YA) were involved in the attack.
