At a time when the Coronavirus crisis continues to be a cause of concern, circulation of fake news is adding to the troubles.

An altered and morphed screenshot of a tweet of Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with numbers changed was circulated by certain unscrupulous elements creating sensation.

The morphed tweet claimed that 8 more persons who travelled in the bus from Rajasthan have tested positive.

However, the fact of the matter is that the results of all samples of the Rajasthan returnees are out and there is no scope of fresh positive cases.

Taking strong note of the morphed tweet, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Assam police has been immediately asked to file an FIR into the case and investigate it thoroughly.

Sarma tweeted, “I have noted with deep concern an altered / morphed screenshot of my tweet – where the numbers have been changed. Asking @assampolice to immediately file an FIR and investigate @DGPAssamPolice.”
