The exit poll results clearly predicted a BJP comeback on May 23rd.

All exit polls barring only two have shown the NDA to be the clear winner with the Congress a distant second. The prediction of the BJP making big inroads in the states of West Bengal and Odisha is significant.

The only region where the party was not shown convincing at all was said to be South India, where barring Karnataka there seems to be no impact of the BJP.

The India Today Axis My India polls gave NDA the highest number of seats at a whopping 360, while News Nation NETA gave it the lowest. The rest barring one gave the BJP led coalition a handsome go ahead.

The Congress meanwhile, despite improving on its 2014 tally has been shown to be far from even coming close to forming the next government. The Mahagathbandhan too seems to have completely failed to make any impact going by the exit polls.

Meanwhile, the NDA is well ahead in the Northeast with exit polls predicting anywhere between 14-17 seats for the ruling alliance.

While almost all exit polls have predicted at least 8-10 seats for the BJP in Assam, the party is also predicted to make a sweep in Manipur, Tripura and Arunachal.

Significantly, one of the exit polls, Republic Jan Ki Baat has given both seats to Congress in Meghalaya. If this holds ground, it will be a major blow to the Conrad Sangma led NPP.

However, things definitely look rosy for the BJP in the region where it had won only 8 of the total 25 seats in 2014.
