Guwahati: Ex-Boyfriend, Accomplice Arrested for Sharing Private Photos and Blackmailing Woman

The Cyber Cell of Guwahati Police has arrested two persons, including a woman’s former boyfriend, for sharing her private images on social media platform Telegram and using them to blackmail her.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Gautam Das (27), a resident of Jatia locality in Kahilipara, Guwahati, and Manshab Biswas (19), a resident of House No. 5, By-lane 1, Mula Gabharu Path in Dispur. Police arrested them from Hatigaon.
According to the police, Gautam Das had been in a relationship with the victim in the past. He allegedly shared her intimate photographs on Telegram without her consent. Manshab Biswas then used these images to blackmail the victim, demanding money and threatening to leak more private content if she refused to comply.
The arrests were made in connection with Cyber PS Case No. 06/25 under Sections 77, 79, and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Sections 66E and 67 of the IT Act, 2000. The case was registered after the victim filed a complaint against the duo.
