The Government of India on Monday announced the winners of one of the country’s highest civilian awards, the Padma Awards comprising three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who passed away in November last year and late political stalwart Ram Vilas Paswan have been awarded the Padma Bhushan posthumously.
Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, former Principal Secretary to PM Nripendra Misra, former Gujarat CM late Keshubhai Patel and late religious leader Kalbe Sadiq are also among the 10 recipients of the Padma Bhushan award.
The Padma Bhushan is the third highest civilian award in the country.
Meanwhile, Former Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, late singer SP Balasubramaniam, Sand artist Sudarshan Sahoo, Archaeologist BB Lal among other personalities been awarded the Padma Vibhushan, which is the country’s second-highest civilian award, after the Bharat Ratna.
The Padma awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year.
