Condemning the recent blast at Shillong’s Police Bazar, Meghalaya Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Ernest Mawrie said that maintaining peace and tranquillity in the state is of utmost importance.
Mawrie urged upon the HNLC to maintain peace, assuring that the BJP would facilitate peace talks with Union Home Minister Amit Shah if the organisation comes forward for discussions and refrains from carrying out any illegal activities.
It may be mentioned that the blast occurred outside Delhi Mistan Bhandar in Shillong’s commercial hub Police Bazar on January 30.

Though no one was injured in the incident, the explosion has led to a fear psychosis of sorts and apprehensions among sections of the general public.
Later on January 31, the proscribed HNLC claimed responsibility for the explosion in the city’s commercial hub Police Bazaar.
As many as four persons have been arrested for their direct involvement in connection with the blast.
