Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi also asked the NRC authorities not to rush through the process while reiterating that the deadline for publication of the NRC is July 31. This was disclosed by AASU chief adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya.
The top court’s observation comes after Mohammad Sanaullah, a retired Subedar of the Indian Army and a sub-inspector of the Assam Police border division, was arrested and sent to detention centre after being declared as a foreigner by the Foreigners Tribunal in Boko.
