Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden and Aaranyak, a city based NGO have been successful in artificially breeding a pair of greater adjutant stork chicks in the zoo.
This was the first experiment which gained success.
Dr Purnima Devi Barman, who led the greater adjutant conservation project of Aaranyak said, “Greater adjutant stork is an endangered bird. We have been doing this experiment since 2017. For the first time, greater adjutant stork has been artificially bred in an enclosure.”
