Eminent singer, poet, lyricist, composer, educationist in Assam, Dr Lakhyahira Das will be conferred the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Award for the year 2023-24, announced the Rotary Club of Guwahati on the ocassion of 97th birth anniversary of the late music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
Lakhyahira Das will be conferred the award on 5 November 2023 at a special ceremony.
Today is the 97th birth anniversary of the ‘Bard of Brahmaputra’. People across Assam paid their homage to late Dr Hazarika.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also paid rich tributes to the legendary singer.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, CM Sarma said, “On the auspicious occasion of his 97th birth anniversary, I remember the brilliant gemstone of Assam with deep reverence. May the timeless and universal compositions of the Bard of Brahmaputra continue to inspire humanity for generations to come.”
Dr Bhupen Hazarika conquered the hearts of thousands across the world, rendering evergreen songs including Manuhe Manuhor Babe, Moi Eti Jajabor, Bistirno parore, and Snehe Amar among others.
