With assembly elections due in the state early next year, Meghalaya BJP President Ernest Mawrie said that the people of the state will not accept the Trinamool Congress.
Ernest Mawrie stated that, unlike the BJP, the Trinamool Congress is not a national party and, hence, it would take time for them to find a foothold in the state.

He referred to Tripura’s civic body polls where the TMC failed to make any deep inroads inspite of garnering a healthy vote share.
On being asked about candidates the BJP will be fielding in the 2023 elections, Mawrie informed us that the BJP has already identified 15 seats where the party has maximum winnability.

The Meghalaya BJP President further stated that the party’s poll preps for the upcoming elections are going on in full swing and the party set to convene its state office bearer meeting today to further discuss ways to strengthen the party before the ensuing elections.
Besides, Mawrie asserted that there will be no pre-poll alliance for the BJP and the party will go solo in the 2023 elections.
