The arrested student has been identified as Subhrajeet Baruah.

Meanwhile, Victim Anand Sharma continues to be in ICU. Earlier speaking exclusively to Northeast Live from his hospital bed, Anand said that he do not want anyone’s career to be ruined.
It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lambasted the Dibrugarh University authorities for its lax attitude and utter failure in handling the “serious offence” of ragging that took place in PNGBC hostel of the University on November 26 night.
The Chief Minister also gave a strong warning to all students, saying, “Ragging will not be tolerated in any college, University of Assam. There will be zero tolerance for ragging”.
Moreover, a magisterial enquiry into the case is underway and a report is likely to be filed in a couple of days.
