As part of the Assam government’s ongoing war on drugs, the state Police seized heroin with an estimated market value of Rs 3 crores and arrested 3 individuals in connection with the seizure in Cachar district.
Based on credible inputs, a team of the Cachar Police conducted an operation at ISBT Silchar yesterday. During the operation, the team recovered 572 grams of heroin.
Lauding the efforts of Cachar Police, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X and wrote, “Based on credible intelligence, @cacharpolice conducted an operation at ISBT Silchar and recovered 572gms of heroin, costing appx ₹3cr. The narcotics was being transported from a neighbouring State. Three accused have been apprehended in this connection. Good job @assampolice.”
Earlier on April 4, the Assam Police recovered heroin worth Rs 12 crore from Guwahati and arrested two drug peddlers identified as Zamal Ali and Salimuddin. The drugs consignment was brought from Manipur.
