Drugs Worth Over Rs 5 Crore Seized, 3 Arrested In Assam In Separate Operations : CM

Drugs worth over Rs 5 crore have been seized and three persons apprehended in two separate operations in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday.

In a joint operation with Assam Police, the Border Security Force (BSF) has seized 7,200 Yaba tablets and 50 grams of suspected narcotic substance at the Indo-Bangladesh border in the Dhubri district of Assam on Tuesday.

Approximately Rs 3 crore worth of drugs were seized in the search operation carried out by border patrol troops of the 150 Bn of the BSF under Guwahati frontier and Assam police.

However, the accused tossed the drugs and fled the scene when they saw patrolmen men arrive.
Taking to X, Assam CM said, “Striking the drugs network, across every region of Assam. In successful anti-narcotics operations carried out today, @SSalmaraPolice & @BSF_India during area domination found 7200 YABA tablets and 50gms brown sugar near the Indo-Bangladesh border valued at ₹3cr”

In another operation in Cachar district, drugs worth over 2.05 crore were seized and three person apprehended by the police.

“@cacharpolice seized 174gms heroin and arrested 2 people and in another operation seized 116gms heroin and arrested 1 individual. Seizure value ₹2.05cr”, CM tweeted.

Sarma also lauded the efforts of Assam Police in making the state drug-free.

Earlier on Monday, a person was arrested with heroin and Yaba tablets worth around Rs 14 crore in Assam’s Cachar district.

“Massive Drug Bust in Ramprasadpur. In a major breakthrough, @cacharpolice, under the jurisdiction of Dholai Police Station, intercepted a vehicle. Upon a thorough search, police recovered 40,000 Yaba tablets and 260 grams of Heroin, worth a market value of Rs 14 crore,” Sarma said in a post on X.
