Engineers have been working to restore the system but have requested at least one week to make it operational again.
Dialysis services at STNM Hospital, the largest government-run hospital in Sikkim, have been disrupted for at least a week due to contamination of the hospital’s water supply.
According to a statement from hospital authorities, recent heavy rainfall caused the water supply to become contaminated with mud and silt, affecting the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water system that supports the dialysis unit.
Engineers have been working to restore the system but have requested at least one week to make it operational again. In the meantime, patients in need of dialysis have been advised to visit the nearest alternative dialysis centers.
Hospital authorities assured that every effort is being made to resolve the issue as quickly as possible to minimise the impact on patients.
