Ripa Hojai will contest the upcoming North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council elections as an independent candidate

Ripa Hojai has formally resigned as the President of BJYM Dima Hasao after she was denied a BJP ticket to the upcoming 13th North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council elections. Her team has also followed suit and submitted their resignations.

In her resignation letter to Sidhanku Ankur Baura, Assam BJYM President, Ripa stated that the decision was taken after thoughtful consideration for personal and professional growth.
Ripa Hojai had sought for a BJP party ticket to contest as the BJP candidate from Haflong Constituency but was denied. She will now contest the election as an independent candidate.

Speaking to media she said, “To contest the elections I will have to fight as an independent candidate since the BJP has already announced their candidate. For that reason it is important that I resign from this party.”

In another similar incident, BJP worker and a party aspirant Joydesh Phonglo has also resigned from BJP and decided to contest as the independent candidate from the Diger constituency.
