Dengue cases rising in Assam, 106 cases reported since Jan 2024

In the last few days, 17 new cases of dengue have been reported from across the state.

Assam has reported 106 dengue cases since January 2024, said Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Thursday.

In the last few days, 17 new cases of dengue have been reported from across the state.

6 cases were reported from Cachar district, 5 from Barpeta, 3 from Charaideo, 2 from Baksa and one from Bongaigaon. However, no fatalities have been reported so far, said Minister Keshab Mahanta.

He said that district authorities have been asked to be on alert.

The Health Minister also advised people of the state to be cautious and consult a doctor immediately if they notice any symptoms of the infection.

Dengue causes high fever, and symptoms like headache, nausea, muscle or joint pain and vomiting.

In severe cases, if dengue is not treated promptly, it can cause a drastic fall in blood platelets, which can be life-threatening.
