The Demand Committee on Creation of Autonomous District Councils (DCCADCs) is all set to press the government to carry out delimitation exercise for the creation of Autonomous District Councils for the newly created districts of Pherzawl, Kamjong, Noney and Tamenglong in Manipur.
The committee stated that pending elections to the district councils should not be held unless ADCs for the new districts are created.
The committee said the resolution was taken during a meeting with the objective to intensify its demand. The committee will also submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding creation of ADCs in the districts.
Convenor of Demand Committee on Creation of Autonomous District Councils Samuel Kamei said that the state Government should not held the upcoming ADC election until Autonomous district Councils are created for the four hill districts.
The convenor further added that the committee would launch various form of democratic and peaceful agitations if ADCs are not created for the four new hill districts before the election.
It may be mentioned that seven new districts were created in Manipur in 2016.
