As predicted by the disaster management department, cyclone Remal's impact on Tripura is gradually increasing.

Tripura Chief Manik Saha has informed that government agencies are working round the clock in view of the threat posed by the impact of Cyclone Remal, which has already unleashed it’s fury in the state as well as in different parts of the Northeast.

Lauding the efforts of the agencies engaged to deal with any kind of eventuality, CM Manik Saha in a post on social media said, “Although normal public life has been somewhat disrupted due to the impact of Cyclone Remal in different parts of the state, the administration is continuing all efforts.

I commend the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), power personnel, fire department and other emergency service related personnel who are working tirelessly in this disastrous weather. Besides, I am calling on the people of all parts to extend their hand of cooperation to the administration and the government until the situation becomes normal.”

As predicted by the disaster management department, cyclone Remal’s impact on Tripura is gradually increasing. Several vehicles were blocked on National Highway 8, on Monday evening which connects the state capital Agartala with the southernmost town of Sabroom.

Strong winds caused a large number of tree branches to break and trees to uproot in the Sepahijala reserve forest area, disrupting the normal movement of vehicles on both sides of the highway.

The blockage lasted for more than an hour before the police from Bishalgarh police station and forest department staff jointly cleared the road, restoring normal traffic flow.

In response to the escalating impact, the state government has issued a red alert for at least four districts, including Sepahijala.

All schools and educational institutions remain closed, and flights from Kolkata have been canceled as a precaution.

Continuous drizzling since last evening has affected normal life, and the intensity of the rain and strong winds is increasing across Tripura.

Rana Chatterjee, Officer-in-charge of Bishalgarh police station, commented on the situation as he emphasizing the coordinated efforts of the police and forest department to manage the disruptions caused by the cyclone.

“Due to the strong winds several trees of Sepahijala reserve forest had broken and blocked the national highway due to which traffic movement was stopped. We acted swiftly to clear the blockage on the highway and now traffic movement became normal,” the Bishalgarh PS OC said.

The state remains vigilant as cyclone Remal continues to affect daily life, with authorities closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to mitigate its impact.

The Tripura government has positioned National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams at strategic locations, ready to respond if conditions worsen.
