Crackdown on infiltrators in Tripura continues: 5 more Bangladeshi nationals arrested, 21 arrests in 3 weeks

Infiltration from Bangladesh into India through Tripura continues unabated. Five more Bangladeshi nationals were arrested on Monday in Tripura’s Khowai district for illegally entering Indian territory without any valid travel documents.

The arrested Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as– Bablu Das, Liton Das, Pankaj Sarkar, Biplab Sarkar, and Rupan Das, residents of Mitrapara, Khaderpur Khalejura in Bangladesh.

Based on inputs about infiltration from the Asharambari village, a team of police led by Ripon Uchoi, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Baijalbari Police outpost conducted a check yesterday.

During the check, the team arrested the infiltrators and recovered several identity cards and currency notes from both Bangladesh and India from their possession.

They were travelling to Moharipur in the Santir Bazaar subdivision of South Tripura district.

A case has been registered against them at the Khowai Police Station under the Foreigners Act and the Passport Act.

The arrests of infiltrators are increasing day by day, particularly Bangladeshi citizens and Rohingyas, using Tripura as a transit route. This is posing a significant national security concern that demands immediate attention.

This ongoing trend is a significant concern for the state government and security agencies.

On May 19, as many as 3 Bangladeshi women were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) with the help of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Agartala Railway Station.

On May 17, as many as 5 individuals, including 4 Bangladeshi infiltrators and one Indian tout, were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Agartala Railway Station.

Eight Bangladeshi nationals were arrested at the Agartala Railway Station today on May 11 and 3 Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from Dharmanagar under the North Tripura district on May 1.
