Crackdown on infiltrators: 4 Bangladeshi nationals, Indian tout arrested in Tripura

In a massive crackdown on infiltration from Bangladesh to India through Tripura, five individuals, including four Bangladeshi infiltrators and one Indian tout, were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Agartala railway station.

Speaking to Northeastlive, Tapas Das, officer-in-charge of the GRP station at Agartala, confirmed about the arrests.

Officer Tapan Das explained that the suspects were arrested following suspicious actions as they were suspiciously trying to enter the station platform the previous night.

The suspects after being detained and interrogated confessed that four of them are Bangladeshi citizens, and one of them is an Indian who assisted them in crossing the border illegally.

The four Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Jahangir Alam (21), Emam Hossain (26), Oran Hassan (19), and Riad Hossain (22) while the Indian tout has been identified as Rafikul Islam from Sonamura in Sepahijal district.

As per sources, they were about to board the Agartala-Secunderabad special train bound for Chennai.
The officer further stated that security at the train station has been beefed due to the occurrence of such incidents frequently.

He added that a specific case has been registered at the GRP station under the IPC, Foreigner’s Act, and Passport Act against the Bangladeshi citizens for entering Indian territory without valid legal documents.
All five arrested will be produced in the court today.

It is to be mentioned that the arrests of infiltrators are increasing day by day, particularly Bangladeshi citizens and Rohingyas, using Tripura as a transit route, pose a significant national security concern that demands immediate attention.

Earlier on May 11, eight Bangladeshi nationals who had entered India without valid documents were apprehended at the Agartala railway station.

A local tout who was facilitating the movement of the illegal migrants was also arrested in a joint operation carried out by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF).
