Crackdown on drugs: 3 arrested in separate incident in Agartala

Meanwhile, Police are interrogating all three arrested persons and a separate specific case has been registered against them under NDPS Act.
Continuing the crackdown against illegal drug trafficking in the state, the Agartala police in two separate incidents arrested three persons in the capital city and seized a huge consignment of brown sugar on Monday.
This was informed by the Sub Divisional Police Officer of Sadar Subdivision, Ajay Kumar Das, who led both operations.
The first operation was jointly carried out by the West Agartala police station along with Ramnagar and Battala town outposts, wherein two drug peddlers identified as Kudduch Miah of Bhati Abhoynagar and Maman Miah of Rajnagar were arrested and brown sugar was seized from their possession.
While in the second incident, the East Agartala police raided the house of a person identified as Sushir Kumar Banik and detained his son Somnath Banik along with vials of brown sugar and Indian-made foreign liquor.
Meanwhile, Police are interrogating all three arrested persons and a separate specific case has been registered against them under NDPS Act.
All three accused shall be produced before the court later today. It has been informed that the police shall seek custody of the arrested persons to further investigate, and get insights into the entire drug racket.
