CP Group, Thailand’s Largest Conglomerate Eyes Investment in Assam

The company’s leadership, currently visiting Guwahati, has expressed its intent to establish a piggery and poultry unit in Assam.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, currently on an international tour to promote the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit, participated in a video conference with Adirek Sripratak, Chairman of Thailand-based Charoen Pokphand Group.
The company’s leadership, currently visiting Guwahati, has expressed its intent to establish a piggery and poultry unit in Assam. Pork holds a prominent place in Assam’s culinary culture, and this initiative is expected to provide a major boost to the state’s youth, many of whom are engaged in the livestock industry.
“Promoting pork as a cultural cuisine and expanding its reach to global markets will significantly uplift local businesses and create new economic opportunities,” wrote the Chief Minister on X.
The video conference also included Assam Cabinet Minister Keshab Mahanta, who participated in discussions with Charoen Pokphand’s team. Both sides expressed optimism about future collaborations and looked forward to the company’s active participation in the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit, slated to take place next month.
With such international interest, Assam continues to position itself as a vibrant hub for investment, aligning with its vision of economic growth and development.
Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) is among the largest conglomerates in Thailand and in the world, with $65 billion in revenue. It is present in agribusiness, including animal feed production, vertical livestock integration, crop integration, aquaculture and food processing; telecommunications and e-commerce, insurance and healthcare and the automotive industry.
