Assam is witnessing a massive spike in COVID cases as 2198 new cases have been detected in the state in the last 24 hours.
There is an increase of 1210 cases as compared to Sunday’s total of 988 COVID cases. The COVID positivity rate has also mounted to 4.49%.
In what can be termed a cause of grave concern, the highest number of 760 COVID cases has been detected in the Kamrup (metropolitan) district. Fresh cases have been detected out of a total of 48,964 tests.

Meghalaya Amid the spike in COVID-19 cases and the growing omicron threat in the state, Meghalaya has issued fresh COVID SOPs to mitigate the spread of the virus in the state.
As per the new SOPs, COVID testing at all entry points will continue, even for those fully vaccinated. a negative COVID report taken in the last 72 hours has been made mandatory for those entering the state, failing which the test will be conducted at the entry points.

Moreover, the state government has also urged all eligible individuals to take the COVID vaccine.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, Meghalaya reported 70 new COVID cases, taking the active covid tally in the state to 448. The state also registered 2 more COVID deaths in the same time period.
