The COVID-19 positivity rate in Assam’s capital city Guwahati has come down to 4.5% on Sunday. Though the health department has intensified testing in the city, the infection rate has significantly decreased in the last couple of days.

From 18 per cent on July 26, the positivity rate in Guwahati has come down to 4.5 per cent on August 8.

Taking to Twitter Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Here are two trends of COVID cases in Guwahati in between 16th July to 8th August. Positivity rate has come down from 18% to 4.5%. The number of positive cases per day is also slowing down. Need to maintain this trend for a few more weeks.”

While, 598 COVID-19 cases were found on July 16 in Guwahati, only 299 cases were detected in the city on August 8. However, during tyhis period, the number of tests has been increased.
