Mizoram on Tuesday reported its highest single-day spike of 1,157 new COVID-19 cases, taking the overall tally in the state to 59,119.
At least 45 persons per 1,000 population have been infected by coronavirus in the state, taking into account the 2011 census of Mizoram, which stood at 10.97 lakh.
Among the fresh cases include 219 children (18.92 per cent), with Aizawl district reporting more than half of the new cases at 679.
With a positivity rate of 8.32 percent, the fresh infections have been detected from 13,040 samples sent for testing.
The active cases in the state currently stands at 9,107. At least 214 people have succumbed to the infection so far.
A total of 49,798 people have recovered from the disease till now, including 358 on Monday. The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 84.23 per cent and the fatality rate is 0.36 per cent.
Meanwhile, 2.36 lakh beneficiaries in the state have received both doses of COVID-19 vaccine till Monday.
