The COVID-19 situation in Guwahati has now raised concern since the number of positive cases in Assam’s capital city has witnessed a sharp spike in the last two days.

The novel coronavirus has infected many who came in contact with the daily wage worker of the potato godown in Fancy Bazaar.

Among the 32 samples of the primary contacts of the godown worker, 15 have already tested positive.

A barber, driver, a stranded individual from Jharkhand, a hotel manager in Fancy Bazaar as well as a tea seller has tested positive for COVID-19. This was disclosed by Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Himanta Biswa Sarma added that 340 samples of primary contacts of the 15 COVID patients have been collected.

Sarma said that if a sizable number of samples out of the total 340 test positive, than the situation will be quite challenging to handle.
